A stock standard brick veneer home of 90-110 square metres will set you back anywhere from $825 per square metre in Adelaide, or $1,280 per square metre in Hobart. In Brisbane and Sydney you can expect costs of around $1,050 while Melbourne is about $1,100 per square metre.

A bit further up the chain, a full brick prestige home between 150-350 square metres is again cheapest to build in Adelaide, with costs ranging from $2,080 per square metre. Brisbane is the most expensive capital in which to build to prestige standard, up to $3,240 per square metre.

With the mining community demanding the production of light gage steel frames for their workers accomodation and executive housing IMAGINE KIT HOMES are now manufactured at AWH Woolstores Site, Cnr Phoenix and Sudlow Rd, Bibra Lake, WA.

The manufacturing plant has been installed by Aaron Baker who has been working with the group for over 10 years. The initial plant includes a 70mm roll form machine which will focus on the transportable market and a 90mm roll form machine which will be used predominatly for kit homes and low to medium density housing complexs.

A new truss machine will also arrive soon that demonstrates the latest technology in steel truss manufacturing.

MONDO Architects will be releasing a range of homes to suit the Western Australian market.

To help save transport costs to the southern states IMAGINE KIT HOMES will now be manufactured at 9 Villa Rd, Springvale, Melbourne.

IMAGINE KIT HOMES are also releasing a new range of designs by MONDO Architects tailored to meet the requirements of the local market.

Director Guy Wood said. “We recognised the need to have a presence in Victoria when our client Sunland Developments insisted we supply the structural components on their 200 home subdivision at Bundoora. We have the capacity to produce more than 2000 per annum for the region”.

The tragic event would be difficult for any family to deal with on their own; however, the community spirit and compassion from some of Australia’s leaders in the construction industry have given hope back to the remaining members of the Taufa family.

The Logan City Council, Mirvac Developments, Hutchinson Builders, Tasman Steel Group, Steel Framing Systems and Tasman Structural Engineering, are just a few of the organisations that have donated time and materials to the reconstruction of the Taufa home. They have seen the home rise from the ground in record time as a swarm of tradesmen converge on the project.

Director of the Tasman Steel Group and Imagine Kit Homes, Mr Jake Gundry, said he was proud of his team that volunteered their time as well as the steel frames and trusses for the project. “We were all very much saddened by what happened last year and wanted to do whatever we could to help the Taufa family get back on their feet”. General Manager of Tasman Structural Engineering, Paul Harazim, donated the structural components to the new home and personally went to the site to install and weld the materials together to ensure there were not delays in the construction.

Mr Harazim said that the end of the day he spent some time looking at the shrine the Taufa family has erected at the back of the property and stated, “I feel sorry for their loss and cannot imagine how distraught they must still be. We hope that we can have the new home completed is a just a few more weeks.”
